Wow...Fukuoka is such a charming small town, well "small" for Japan anyways, for Thailand it is more like a small city. Anyways, the place is just so beautiful and clean, the landscaping by the local council is just amazing. There are probably more flowers here just by the sidewalks and along the streets than there are in botanical gardens in Bangkok.

These pictures were taken on the only day during my trip when there was sunshine and blue skies.

Maybe I ought to show these photos to my local council in Bangkok.

CZ 16-35mm f2.8 Sample Photos Walkabout Lens Around Japan Part 1

Recently I was going to be traveling to Japan for about 6 days, and of course I was going to be taking my Sony dslr camera with me (the a900). The decision I had to make though, was what lens to take along. Due to a number of reasons, I didn't want to be carrying much weight around and didn't want to waste time changing lenses, so I had to choose something that would be a good all around walkabout lens. I was initially considering 3 lenses, the Sony 28-75mm f2.8, the Minolta 35mm f1.4 and the Carl Zeiss 16-35mm f2.8.

Even though I was a bit apprehensive at first, over the years I have found that the vast majority of my shots are taken between the focal length of about 24-30mm when I had a normal zoom lens on, and even wider when I had a superwide zoom, so in the end I decided to take the Carl Zeiss over what might have been the more usual choice in the Sony 28-75mm.

Did I regret the decision? Well I just got back from my trip and for the coming days I will try to upload the shots I got with the lens. Hopefully this will give some idea to anyone wondering, of what kind of shots are possible with this lens, so those who are considering using it as a walkabout lens  can decide it if is for them or not.

Disclaimer: any limitations found most likely (almost certainly) resulted from my lack of photographic skill. Also most days during my trip was very grey and hazy, at least that's my excuse anyways.
